Description

This is my first attempt using the Explore Scientific 2x Focal Extender together with the ASI120MM-S camera on Jupiter. The Focal Extender did a much better job than my older barlow.

I setup earlier in the evening (at dusk) to get ahead of the haze and bad seeing. In the springtime, our seeing typically gets worse here as the night progresses. The sky was still a little dark-blue to the west when I shot the Jupiter videos, but it did not matter. Visually, Jupiter looked great in the eyepiece, and the videos were much clearer than I have ever done before.

Video was shot in SER format with FireCapture. Exposure was 16.02 ms, with a gain of 28. Best 30% of 2000 frames were stacked in AS2!. Sharpening done in Registax.

Version B: Used best 1000 frames (50% of 2000 frames) to reduce noise.

For more details on the sky conditions, please see my description from image Plato & Alps Mountains

Thanks for looking!
